The Zurich New Year's Eve Run (Zurich, Switzerland) is one of the most traditional, beautiful and largest New Year's Eve runs in the world. Every year, over 20,000 participants take part in this unique running event to explore the festively decorated old town of Zurich on foot.
The fascination of the Zurich New Year's Eve run lies above all in the unique flair that this running event offers. The whole city and therefore the entire running route are decorated for Christmas and allow you to immerse yourself in another world. Especially because the starting shot is fired in the evening and you run through a marvellous sea of lights. There are two running routes to choose from. You can take part in the 5.5 km or the 8.8 km run. There are even two separate runs for the male and female elite runners. However, you can only take part in these by invitation. In addition to sporting ambition, the Zurich New Year's Eve Run is also about having fun. In the ‘Run for Fun’ category, the most original outfit is therefore also honoured and, contrary to the name of the event, the starting signal is not given on New Year's Eve, but always on the second last Sunday before Christmas.
