The starting gun for this marathon is fired at midnight, which means that the New Year's marathon in Zurich officially opens the running season for participants.
Marathon runners from 47 different nations ring in the marathon season at the New Year's marathon in Zurich. The starting shot is fired at midnight and leads the participants under a brightly lit New Year's Eve sky over a 10.55 km circuit, 90% of which is on natural paths. As the route is not illuminated, it is recommended that all participants wear a headlamp. After crossing the finish line, participants can look forward to a proper New Year's Eve party.
