Breathtaking, beautiful and extreme - three words that best describe the Gornergrat Zermatt Marathon. A mountain run of superlatives awaits you at the Gornergrat Zermatt Marathon, where you can choose between a half marathon, marathon and ultra marathon.
The Gornergrat Zermatt Marathon is one of the most challenging marathons in Europe. The start is in the deepest valley in Switzerland in St. Niklaus. The finish is Riffelberg or Gornergrat. Those who have fought their way up to the Riffelberg will have conquered a total of 2,585 metres in altitude over a distance of 42.195 km. But the Gornergrat Zermatt Marathon is not yet over for all ultra runners. On the following 3.4 km, there are another 514 metres of altitude difference on the programme. The view on the Gornergrat is of course unique at this altitude and compensates all participants for the enormous exertions.
