Description
The Davos X-Trails in Davos (Switzerland) is a highly challenging trail run or mountain run that brings together the elite of trail runners. A total of four runs are organised at the Davos X-Trails, which appeal to participants of different ability levels. Whether beginner or experienced ultra runner, the Davos X-Trails represent an extremely tough challenge for every participant. After more than 35 years (formerly the Swiss Alpine Iron Trail), the Davos X-Trails are internationally recognised as one of the toughest trail runs and mountain races in the world.
At the Davos X-Trails, participants can expect extreme physical and mental exertion. It goes without saying that participants must be in excellent training condition before they cross the start line. The average altitude of the Davos X-Trails is 1,950 metres above sea level. In addition to the running course, over 3,500 metres of altitude have to be overcome in the main race. As the altitude places an extraordinary strain on the body, participants are advised to arrive approximately five days before the start of the Davos X-Trails so that the body can acclimatise to these extreme conditions. Participants are also expected to have extensive alpine experience and a good sense of direction. The ability to read the relevant maps is a basic requirement. However, despite all the toughness, the Davos X-Trails will also be an unforgettable running experience for all participants.
