Description
The Brocken Challenge is a winter ultra-marathon race that serves a charitable purpose, as 100% of the proceeds are donated. The course of the Brocken Challenge runs from Göttingen to the Brocken and is between 80 and 86 kilometres long. In running circles, the Brocken Challenge is also known as the toughest race in the north.
The Brocken Challenge has a long tradition, having been organised for the first time in 2004. The idea behind the Brocken Challenge is to reach the Brocken in winter by running from Göttingen in just one day. On the way to the summit of the Brocken in the Harz Mountains, you have to overcome 1,900 metres in altitude in addition to the approx. 80 km. Due to the season, the Brocken Challenge can be subject to extreme weather conditions every year.
