Bilstein Marathon in Witzenhausen

Description

The Bilstein Marathon has been organised since 2011 and has established a firm place for itself in the ultra running scene over the years. Every year, 650 participants line up at the start of the Bilstein Marathon to climb the Bilstein, which is also the namesake of this running event. In 2016, the Bilstein Marathon was even the venue for the German Ultratrail Championships. The motto of the Bilstein Marathon is: ‘Flat is different’.

There are four running distances to choose from at the Bilstein Marathon. You can choose between a half marathon, a marathon, an ultra run and a 100 km run. All four running events are tough, as they not only run entirely along forest and farm tracks, but also have a few metres of elevation gain. While the half marathon has an elevation gain of 535 metres, the 100 km race has an elevation gain of 2,600 metres. In addition, some sections of the run can be described as extremely challenging. This means that the Bilstein Marathon is not for beginners. To take part, you should be very well trained and already have some experience of trail running. Incidentally, 1 euro of the entry fee will be donated to a good cause, so you will also be doing something good by taking part.
