​The Abbott Longford Marathon is a celebrated annual event that transforms the heart of Ireland into a haven for runners of all levels. Participants can choose from a 63.4 km Ultra Marathon, Marathon, Half Marathon, and a 5 km race, ensuring there's a distance for everyone. 

Each race starts and finishes on Main Street, near the Longford Arms Hotel, serving as the Race Headquarters. The marathon route is renowned for its flat terrain, guiding runners through the scenic landscapes of Longford and its neighboring counties, including parts of Roscommon and Leitrim. 

Established in 2002 to commemorate local runner Liam Fenelon's 100th marathon, the event has grown significantly over the years. Known as "The Friendly Marathon in the Heart of Ireland," it offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with meticulous organization ensuring a memorable experience for all participants.
